Major Arcana: A Roadmap to Confident New Beginnings

1.The Fool: Beginning of Your Journey

Close your eyes for a moment and try to reflect. Imagine you are standing just like The Fool on a cliff looking at a strange landscape. There are blue skies and, in the distance, you can see the sun. There is something that burns deep inside you. It is the anticipation of something new encapsulated on this card – a child’s energy or sometimes just pure amazement at life. Is there something new you want to start but can’t take the first step towards it? Why? Always accept whatever comes without questions and firmly believe that you are neither lost nor in any wrong place at all but right where you should be. Sometimes it takes only one leap! At the end of this journey take full ownership of your powers.

2.The Magician: Harnessing Your Power

Now that you’ve taken the leap, you’re ready to tap into your personal power. The Magician card reflects a focus to achieving any desired goal ignoring distractions or other things that might be important. Just imagine tools laid on a table before you: talents or skills (club); physical assets/ resources that can push you on (sword); education/ knowledge you’re required to have (book); amongst other things. The Magician tells you everything necessary for your work is already available on you-both material stuffs and expertise should be provided. Think about a project you want to carry out. Write three resources or abilities which can facilitate the achievement these tasks. The strength lies within you thus you only need to utilize it!

3.The High Priestess: Trusting Your Intuition

In the past, I noted that The Magician represented the ability to control the outside world. However now he shows another side of himself inside. The High Priestess is all about intuition, secretiveness and subconscious feelings that even to this day their origin remains unknown. Have you ever woken up knowing something was right (or wrong)? Well that’s what the High Priestess would tell you, listen to her when it happens. Should there be times when all one has to do is pay more attention to their inner voice instead of doing what others say is right by them? Unlike past experiences; what am I feeling about now? You are being asked by the High Priestess to trust your instincts and look for solutions within yourself

4.The Empress: Nurturing and Creativity

Imagine that you are under the governance of The Empress who deals with fertility and growth. She is well-known for her ability to shower upon us abundant living which flows over us like creative artistry or other nurturing forms inclusive of emotional support. For example, it could mean taking care of projects that require attention to detail throughout their development stages from inception until maturity. Imagine all the things you have planted in your garden of life. Write something that you are nurturing right now—a relationship, yourself perhaps or an idea for a personal project? How can you make it grow? The Empress reminds us that growth cannot be hurried; it needs time but is bound to pay back good dividends if showered with love.

5.The Emperor: Structure and Stability

After the creativity of The Empress, it’s time for structure and order with The Emperor. The Emperor sits on his throne dressed in armour like he is ready for battle showing structure and discipline. Structure comes after creativity as shown in The Empress card and order is brought about by The Emperor who represents authority, firmness and setting limits. Create an image of a strong, stable foundation underpinning your aspirations. The best laid schemes collapse quickly without order. What needs more organization in one aspect of your life at present? This can be applied to financial state, career line or human relationship here in this world even; go ahead bravely, foundation shall support the line.

6.The Lovers: Choices and Connections

At this stage we move to interactions- The Lovers. Lovers do not only mean romance but also all relationships with decision making involved in them. In relation to your habitually made decisions, analyse major attachments in your life—are they interlocked with yourself? Which links require more of your attention right now? What kind of decisions do you make in life by intuition or according to your own beliefs? Be yourself if you want to remain authentic while still coping with other individuals’ links. If torn between two lovers; know that The Lovers makes you choose between fantasy and reality.

7. The Chariot: Taking Control

Imagine being in The Chariot that is very stern on the road and you are driving it yourself then you will understand what it means. This card means tough willpower, control and direction powerfully. It will help you that the challenges on your way may seem insurmountable, but you must never lose sight of your goal at whatever cost. What is one step you could take today regarding an issue you feel powerless about now, which when done empowers you to change course if need be? Write down and implement it. The Chariot asks you to be assertive and take charge of your destiny.

8. The Hermit: Reflection and Inner Guidance

After the high speed and activity typified by The Chariot card, you need to take some time for introspection. The Hermit suggests that it is time to seek answers from within for a little while. Imagine you are alone with your thoughts at the summit of a silent mountain and that all around you is dark except for the lantern which hangs from your hand. This card symbolizes inner guidance and self- questing. What part of your life needs more clarity?
What could it transform to if one took another look at life but from a different angle and eternally retired from it? The Hermit encourages you to take the time to look within and trust your inner guide.

9. The Wheel of Fortune: Life’s Ups and Downs

Life is cyclical – there are highs and lows in life. These good moments might be followed by bad ones and vice versa; thus, The Wheel of Fortune can be argued that nothing lasts forever as far as change is concerned. Just hold on when things seem difficult like they did before and good situations will follow shortly after. Just think about one example when something bad happened to you but later turned out well. Take things as they are since Change is the only constant thing.

10.  Justice: A search for balance

When the Fool meditated with The Hermit he met with The Justice. It is justice that always reminds us to pause and see if our lives are fair or if they are really balanced. A person has to accept him or herself before taking any step towards fairness. Is there something unbalanced in any area of your life? How can you bring back into balance? Equity informs us that we must make choices because every action leads to consequences of some kind; progress comes only when we engage these consequences honestly and justly.

11. The Hanged Man: A Change in Perspective

The Hanged Man is at a point where the Fool makes his next stop on his journey. Everything changes when he hangs upside down. It may mean yielding or relinquishing control such that new perspectives are allowed to emerge. When have you ever felt stuck in your life? How would it be if viewed differently? Just imagine how your world would change for the better by altering your perspective a little. The Hanged Man has also taught us that sometimes a change comes not really as an action but through waiting and submission to it.

12. Death – Transformation and Rebirth

Do not be scared by the name! Death does not mean physical death but rather finishing with an old life or piece of it and beginning a new one. The emphasis here is on change; it’s about releasing whatever no longer serves you. This change is ready to happen: what part of yourself need to let go in order for you move forward? The Fool goes through multiple cycles of death-and-rebirth like we do as human beings.

13.  Temperance – Finding balance and change

After death came Temperance in the adventure of the fool. Moderation is about stability and it comes after the last Death. This is where patience meets peace because life will be a combination of contrasts. Consider the part of your life which appears imbalanced. How can you bring more life (for balance purposes) into it? Think what kind of behaviours you should tame so as to achieve your aims. Temperance is a code word for practicing mindfulness whilst seeking harmony even when things are changing.

14. Devil – Confronting Your Shadow Self

On his path, the fool encounters The Devil, who represents seduction, attachment and shadow side of being human. It is an invitation for one to face their fears, let go unhealthy attachments and perceive themselves as tied up by certain chains. Is there anything that you are associating with in life and is holding you back such as habits or fears or attachments? How can you start being free? The devil tells us to take responsibility for our shadow self and reclaim power over our lives.

15.The Tower: Sudden Change and Awakening

The next encounter shakes the Fool to his core. When he looks at this image, everything collapses around him. The Tower is sudden; wiping past supports from beneath thoughtlessly and demolishing ridiculous illusions very quickly at once. What was the most unexpected thing that ever happened to you in life? How did it change for good The Tower also signals that change can sometimes arise from low places as unappreciable grandeur remakes itself. The Tower shows that change is uncontrollable.

16. The Star: Hope & Inspiration

After the storm of The Tower, the Fool looks up and sees The Star, a symbol of hope, inspiration, and renewal. To recover from some trauma this period shall heal; only trust cosmic power to guide you now. What makes you hopeful right now? The future may seem bleak but the Star says you should have belief in better days coming ahead.

17. The Moon: Navigating Confusion

Next, the Fool enters the mysterious world of The Moon, where things aren’t always as they seem. The card signifies intuition, deception, and darkness. Trust yourself when things seem uncertain. There are always areas where clarity eludes us or feels murky – how about tuning into your intuition
The Moon teaches us that while we may not always know where we are going, but our intuition will always lead us.

18. The Sun: Joy and Clarity

After navigating the shadows, the Fool is greeted by the warm, radiant energy of The Sun. The source of happiness had come to the Fool in the form of bright energy. It heralds of success, youthfulness, life’s strength and complete understanding regarding everything around us. It’s everywhere, The Sun sends brilliant rays illuminating everything in its path; this is all that remains clear now what could be more reflective than this light at night. When are you likely to experience such moments again? The Sun reminds us to enjoy our achievements and have a feeling of clarity and optimism as we move forward in life.

19. Judgement-Awakening and Reflection

As the Fool nears the end of his journey, he faces Judgement. “He who focuses too much on where he’s going instead of how far he has come will find himself halfway back to his starting point.” It is a moment for deep thought, internal awakening & deciding on significant changes that need to take place in someone’s life Judgment in life What big decision do you need to make that will change everything for forever?
